Overview
The Lookout takes its name from the crow’s nest at the top: a small room with glass on four sides, a daybed, and a view up and down the coast.
It was built in 2020 on the Gulf side of 30A, one lot back from the beach, for a family of three generations. The elevator is there for the grandparents, and the bunk room is there for everyone else.
Rooms
Ground floor. The front door opens onto the pool courtyard, not the street. On this floor are the bunk room, a full bathroom with a door straight onto the pool deck, a laundry room with two washers and two dryers, and the elevator.
The bunk room. Two sets of built-in twin bunks, each with its own reading light, a shelf and a curtain. Wide enough for adults, and the one room every child asks for.
Second floor. Four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The primary has a king bed, a balcony facing the Gulf and a soaking tub under the window. Bedroom two has a king bed and its own balcony. Bedroom three has a queen bed. Bedroom four has two queen beds, for cousins or a second couple with small kids.
Third floor. The kitchen, a dining table for fourteen and the living room share one long room with windows on the Gulf side. There’s a half bath and a covered deck with a grill, facing the Gulf.
The crow’s nest. A narrow stair from the living room climbs to a room the size of a large closet, glass on four sides, with a daybed. Somebody always ends up napping there.
Outside
A private pool with a shallow ledge, a covered pool deck with a dining table, an outdoor shower, and parking for four cars.
The beach
One minute on foot down the shared walkway to the neighborhood’s deeded beach access. No road to cross.

Seaside is about ten minutes by bike. Deer Lake State Park is a few minutes’ drive east.

We asked for a crib the day before we arrived. It was set up in the second bedroom when we walked in.

We brought three generations and the elevator meant my dad could come. The crow’s nest was the kids’ fort and the grown-ups’ nap room.
